Ounahi leaves Girona for Panathinaikos for €15m

Azzedine Ounahi is now officially a Panathinaikos player. The Moroccan midfielder brings an end to his Girona stint after just one season at Montilivi and returns to Athens, with the deal finally getting over the line in the closing hours of the Greek transfer window.

As Mundo Deportivo reports, the agreement is worth around €15 million, with the final figure possibly rising by €1–2 million through performance-related bonuses. On top of that, Girona keeps 25% of any future sale of the player.

Deal sealed after the late push

Girona, according to the same source, held a firm position and only allowed the move if the transfer reflected the quality of one of the squad’s most important assets. Panathinaikos kept pressing until the end and, the paper adds, got their announcement out first after the transaction was unlocked late on—especially so the club could register Ounahi in time for UEFA competitions.
