Ousmane Dembélé would captain France vs Belgium if Zidane starts him
Mbappé is out with a left-knee tendon injury, and on Monday in Brussels Dembélé could wear the armband.
Ousmane Dembélé, of PSG, would captain France on Monday in Brussels against Belgium in the Nations League if Zinédine Zidane starts him again (20:45), as L'Équipe reports. The decision is driven by the absence of Kylian Mbappé, out with a tendon injury in his left-knee.
Against Turkey on Friday, a 1-0 win, Dembélé took over the armband when Mbappé came off at the 59th minute. It was the first time he wore it with France. He then passed it to Adrien Rabiot, who is next in the pecking order with 67 caps, before Estéban Lepaul took it over at the 90th.
With Mbappé unavailable, Dembélé becomes the second-most capped player in the captaincy list: he has 68 international appearances. The latest vice-captain is Jules Koundé, with 57.
