Oviedo: five scoreless and seven winless at the Tartiere

Real Oviedo heads into the Asturian derby against Sporting with clear pressure on the Carlos Tartiere: since April 5 they haven’t won at home, and they also have five matches without scoring. According to MARCA, the last time they celebrated fully at their stadium was the 1-0 win over Sevilla, with Fede Viñas scoring.

Since then, Oviedo have played seven official games at the Tartiere without tasting victory: Villarreal (1-1), Elche (1-2), Getafe (0-0) and Alavés (0-1), plus the results that have extended the streak at the start of the current campaign with Granada, Leganés and Burgos.

The scoring drought at home

The problem gets worse when you look at the last time they found the net. MARCA points to April 26 as Oviedo’s last home goal: Ilyas Chaira scored again vs Elche, and since then the team has gone through five straight home matches without scoring.

By derby day, the calendar will have stretched to 175 days since the last home win and 154 days since that final goal.

Derby as a chance to break two runs

The clash with Sporting is framed as the moment Oviedo can end both streaks: the goal drought and the winless spell with their fans. So, beyond the rivalry itself, the Tartiere becomes key if Oviedo are to stop the two trends dating back to April, as MARCA reports.
