Málaga is leaning on set-piece specialist Pablo Martínez. The former Levante player, one of the club’s signings this summer, has taken charge of wide free-kicks and corner routines, a role the club has highlighted recently on its website.
As reported by MARCA, the move matters because Málaga have struggled to create danger in open play. Set pieces can become a different route to goal, and Martínez’s delivery and striking help coach Juanfran Funes shape that plan.
His impact was visible in Vigo, where his work from the pitch ended in a goal assist. With Levante, he totaled 155 official matches, adding experience in both LaLiga and Segunda, and even served as captain. This season with Málaga, he has appeared in five games across 307 minutes.
