Real Madrid fires back at Tebas after his social media jabs

Real Madrid has issued a statement to respond to remarks made by Javier Tebas Medrano, president of LaLiga, following his social media messages that criticized Real Madrid TV and “aligned” media after the derby.

In the comunicado, Real Madrid says it finds it “unacceptable” that LaLiga’s president uses his institutional position to keep discrediting the club. The statement adds that it is “very concerning” that, instead of representing and protecting the interests of all LaLiga clubs, Tebas allegedly remains fixated on attacking Real Madrid publicly.

The club also argues that the latest intervention is especially serious and incomprehensible, saying Tebas reacts by commenting on an article by an independent journalist on a digital outlet. Real Madrid further criticizes that Tebas goes beyond his remit by assessing the team’s sporting strategy—something the club describes as totally inappropriate and irresponsible.

Neutrality and proper leadership

The statement concludes by calling for LaLiga to have a leader able to run the competition with the basic duty of neutrality, emphasizing that the president is not the “owner” of the league, but a manager accountable to the clubs.
