Real Madrid train with Militao and four players as internationals miss out
The FIFA window ends on October 6 and Real Madrid return to LaLiga on October 10 vs Villarreal.
Real Madrid held a training session this Monday with several absences due to international duty, but with Éder Militao back involved. The Brazilian underwent surgery on April 28 for a proximal tendon rupture of the left leg’s biceps femoris, and at Valdebebas he was seen taking part in exercises with the rest of the squad.
With José Mourinho working with very limited options, only Raúl Asencio, Álvaro Carreras, Antonio Rüdiger and Aurélien Tchouaméni were available as outfield players. The session took place behind closed doors at 10:30 in the Ciudad Real Madrid, featuring “varied and demanding physical work blocks,” as the club reported. Thiago Pitarch, who had played for Real Madrid Castilla earlier in the break, was also absent after being called up by Spain Under-20 for a friendly against Mexico on Wednesday.
In the same session, Rodrygo and Ferland Mendy continued their recovery and were able to touch the ball. Fede Valverde couldn’t travel with Uruguay after suffering a grade-3 sprain in his left ankle against Atlético de Madrid. During the international window, Ibrahima Konaté (right leg collateral ligament injury) and Kylian Mbappé (left knee posterior capsule hyperextension) also joined the list of absentees.
Real Madrid return to competition on Saturday, October 10 (21:00), when they host Villarreal at the Santiago Bernabéu in LaLiga’s matchday 8. Mourinho’s side are fourth, 6 points behind Barcelona.
