Real Sociedad get six days off for the international break
As MARCA reports, Matarazzo schedules a post-match session on Monday 21, with non-internationals returning to Zubieta on the 28th.
Pellegrino Matarazzo has tweaked Real Sociedad’s week to fit the international break. According to MARCA, the squad will hold the usual post-match training session on Monday 21, and any players who haven’t been called up for their national teams won’t return to Zubieta until Monday 28, giving them six days off.
The coach’s reasoning is the recent workload. After eight games in just a month (with the first five coming across 17 matchdays), the club believes they need almost a full week to recover physically and reset.
The internationals are away
With call-ups already in place, the players representing their countries are the ones who won’t take part in that holiday period. MARCA lists them as:
- Jon Mikel Aramburu and Yangel Herrera (Venezuela)
- Óri Óskarsson (Iceland)
- Mikel Oyarzabal and Jon Martín (Spain and the U21s)
- Job Ochieng (Kenya)
- Take Kubo (Japan)
- Mamadou Sarr (Senegal)
- Luka Sucic (Croatia)
That means those set for the six days include Álex Remiro, Aihen Muñoz, Jon Gorrotxategi, Igor Zubeldia, Ander Barrenetxea, Beñat Turrientes, Gonçalo Guedes, Unai Marrero, Pablo Marín, Jon Pacheco, Sergio Gómez, Carlos Soler, Álvaro Odriozola, Héctor Fort and Arsen Zakharyan. MARCA adds that Odriozola and Zubeldia are injured, so they will continue their rehabilitation, likely alongside other players who want to improve their condition.
Finally, it remains to be seen whether Beitia and Marchal get days off too—or if they’ll drop down to the Sanse to keep match sharpness during the break.
