Real Sociedad return to training at Zubieta with absences and doubts

They resume Monday with multiple international absences, aiming to be ready for Friday’s (19:00) Euskal Herria Txapela vs Athletic.

Real Sociedad return to training this Monday at Zubieta after six days of mini-vacations, with a reduced squad due to absences and a couple of fitness doubts ahead of Friday’s Euskal Herria Txapela final at Anoeta against Athletic (19:00). The club will hold four morning sessions at 11:00 from Monday to Thursday, then have the weekend off before returning to official competition.

Manager Matarazzo will be without nine internationals: Yangel Herrera and Aramburu (Venezuela), Oyarzabal (Spain), Jon Martín (U-21), Óskarsson (Iceland), Sucic (Croatia), Kubo (Japan), Sarr (Senegal) and Ochieng (Kenya). In addition, Álex Marchal will join the group for three days after a call-up with the U-20s for two training sessions and a friendly vs Italy in Madrid, although he is not expected to be back in time for Friday.

There is also the injury of Álvaro Odriozola. The remaining questions are Igor Zubeldia’s physical condition—he missed recent matches but trained with the team—and which players from the Sanse can step in after playing on Saturday and not returning until Sunday.
