Renee van Asten returns to Barça training and targets Roma
The Dutch centre-back, sidelined with a right rectus anterior injury, rejoined group work and could play tomorrow in the Champions League (18:45).
Renee van Asten, the Barça women’s centre-back, returned to group training yesterday and is in line to play in the UEFA Women’s Champions League trip to AS Roma this Wednesday at 18:45 (TV3 and Disney Plus), Mundo Deportivo reports.
The 19-year-old made her official debut on August 30 as a starter vs Costa Adeje Tenerife (5-0), but was substituted in the 55th minute. She has not played since, missing action with a myofascial injury affecting the posterior of her right rectus anterior, putting her out for four league matches plus Barça’s 5-2 opening win over Paris FC in the Champions League League phase.
After Aitana Bonmatí’s return in Logroño, Vicky López and Kika Nazareth remain sidelined with muscle injuries, while Laia Aleixandri is in the final stretch of recovering from a serious injury. If all goes well, the comeback could be near-term: Renee van Asten is expected to be named in the squad.
