RFEF fines Basconia for missing licensed doctor at Lezama

Basconia have been fined by the RFEF’s single disciplinary judge for non-professional competitions for failing to present the required medical license for home matches at Lezama. As Mundo Deportivo reports, the sanction relates to two Segunda RFEF fixtures, corresponding to the second and third matchdays.

Two games at Lezama

In the match vs Astorga, the referee Alberto Gómez Lameiro noted in his report that the club did not have a licensed doctor present. As he wrote: “El CD Basconia no presenta licencia de médico, ejerciendo dichas funciones Don Pablo Aranda Paz”.

In the next game, Basconia again played at Lezama, this time against Arosa (2-0). In that fixture, referee Sergio Salazar Castaño included in the incident section that Don José Antonio Lekue Gallano would carry out the doctor’s duties during the match.

The rule they breached

The decision, published by the Federation, is based on failure to comply with regulatory obligations and, specifically, on article 20 of the Segunda Federación league competition rules and regulations for the 2026/2027 season, as Mundo Deportivo explains.

That article says clubs must have, compulsorily and via the corresponding license, a registered physician who must be present in every home game and take on responsibilities including doping control, among others.

The piece also adds that Athletic has a licensed doctor assigned for its second reserve team, but she was unable to attend these two matches, so duties were carried out by professionals such as Pablo Aranda Paz and José Antonio Lekue Gallano.
