Roberto Fernández called up by Spain, but still no debut

Roberto Fernández, an Espanyol forward, earned his first call-up to Spain under Luis de la Fuente, but his debut will have to wait after two games without even making the matchday squad. The Andalusian stayed out of action in England–Spain at Wembley last Saturday and also did not play or sit on the bench vs Croatia this Tuesday.

As Mundo Deportivo reports, De la Fuente opted against including Fernández for those fixtures alongside Víctor Muñoz and Iván Fresneda. While Muñoz and Fresneda did make the team for the Croatia match, Fernández was again left out.

The Espanyol striker has 6 goals in 7 LaLiga appearances this season so far. His next chances come during the break: against the Czech Republic next Saturday at Carlos Tartiere in Oviedo, and then on Tuesday next week away at Croatia.
