Rodri: “Very important win” after Barça’s Sevilla victory

Rodri assessed Barça’s win at the Sánchez Pizjuán against Sevilla and framed it around how hard the match was. In Barça One, the midfielder said it was “a very important victory” and added that it brought “a great learning,” because the team struggled to get going in the first half.

He pointed to the reasons for that slow start: in his view, they made “several unforced errors” against a side that defends in a compact block and has “physical and quick” players. Rodri also spoke about the tactical angle, recalling something he’d discussed with Pep: “there is no system” that would make you lose “systematically.” He did, however, leave a downside note regarding injuries, lamenting: “It’s a shame that Christensen got injured.”

Asked whether the international break could disrupt Barça’s momentum—coming into the match with seven wins from the first seven matchdays—Rodri played it down. “We’re not going to lose the rhythm,” he said, stressing that they’ll keep competing and aim to “come back as best as possible.”

Rodri also handed out praise for the best performers. He described Raphinha as the most decisive, said Lamine also performed “very well,” and noted Adeyemi impressed him for the way he came on in the second half.
