Roy Keane hits back at Anthony Gordon: Spain and England not same level

Roy Keane pushed back against Anthony Gordon’s view after Spain came from behind to beat England 2-3 in their Nations League opener at Wembley.

Gordon, who scored England’s equaliser from a counter-attacking move, felt the performance was enough to win and argued there isn’t a gap between the sides. He added that if Harry Kane’s penalty had gone in, England could have gone on to win, in comments to ITV Sport.

Keane disagreed and insisted there is a clear gap: “There is a gap between Spain and England”. Spain extended an unbeaten run of 39 matches despite being in trouble at the break, when Kane had headed England 2-1 and then missed a second-half penalty. Alex Baena levelled off the bench and Mikel Oyarzabal scored the winner.
