Roy Keane slams Man City over 'cheating' after 114 breaches

Roy Keane, a legend of Manchester United, went after Manchester City on ITV just hours after the club was found guilty of 114 out of 115 offences under the Premier League’s financial rules.

Speaking during the build-up to England-Spain in the Nations League, Keane disagreed with Rodri—now at Barcelona and a former City player—who defended his old club and said what they achieved “can’t be taken away”. Keane’s response was blunt: “Ils ont choisi de tricher”.

The consultant added that, whatever titles City have won in recent years, they “deserve to be sanctioned”, and that once they’ve been convicted of so many charges, they have to live with the consequences. Ian Wright also joined in, arguing it isn’t right that City could enjoy those big moments while other teams that played by the rules were left behind.

As outlined by the regulations, City could face severe penalties, including a ban from some successes in the 2009-2018 period and points deductions, with relegation from the Premier League seen as unlikely. RMC Sport reports that other clubs are already looking into compensation, while City’s chairman Khaldoon Al Murabak has tried to reassure supporters.
