Rubo Iranzo finds his place at Zaragoza: “They gave me confidence”

Rubo Iranzo, centre-back for Real Zaragoza, says he is “super happy” after four matches in the starting XI and 342 minutes since joining, following a cost-free transfer agreement. As Sport reports, the Valencian defender left Valencia—where he had been since the youth ranks—after delays caused by the arrival of new ownership, and the deal was finally cleared on August 26, just seven days before the window closed.

With Lalo Arantegui and Ibai Gómez pushing for his arrival, Iranzo formed a central pairing with Diego González starting from matchday two and has stayed in the side. The two played 331 minutes together (342 for Iranzo), with Zaragoza keeping clean sheets against Antequera, Cartagena and Ibiza. With both in the middle, they conceded only once in open play? No: it was a penalty scored by Dioni, and there were no goals from open play.

“Super happy—at Zaragoza they gave me the confidence I needed,” his closest circle said, while Ibai Gómez praised him as someone with “incredible physical and technical conditions.” The transfer was agreed for three years, with Valencia retaining a roughly 20% sell-on plus a future right of first refusal.
