Sevilla leans on the “12th man”: absenteeism drops to 5%
Luis García Plaza’s Sevilla starts strong in LaLiga with 13 points and sees absenteeism fall from 14% to 5% at home.
Sevilla, under Luis García Plaza, has seen a clear improvement in the stands after its first four home matches: absenteeism has dropped from 14% to 5%, as the club’s official website reports. The team went into the international break sitting fifth in LaLiga EA Sports with 13 points.
So far, the Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán has helped with big crowds across the first seven matchdays. The home record includes four fixtures (Rayo, Atlético Madrid, Valencia and Barcelona) and four top attendance figures:
- 36,777 vs Rayo Vallecano
- 38,340 vs Atlético Madrid
- 39,939 vs Valencia
- 41,145 vs Barcelona
Nervión as extra fuel
García Plaza highlighted the stadium atmosphere on DAZN, calling it a “manicomio” that drives the team when matches are intense. After the win over Deportivo, he said: “Muy contentos por los chicos y por esa afición” and “No les podemos prometer victorias, pero sí que nos dejamos la vida.”
The schedule resumes with two away games. First, Sevilla travel to Levante, where the club says the tickets set aside for visiting fans were sold out. More than 600 Sevilla supporters are expected at the Ciutat de Valencia next Monday, 12 October, at 9:00 pm.
