Sevilla takes FIFA route: Fenerbahçe hit with transfer ban over En-Nesyri

Sevilla FC has filed a complaint with FIFA over an unpaid instalment related to Youssef En-Nesyri’s transfer to Fenerbahçe. After the player was sold in the summer of 2024 for €19.5m, FIFA imposed three transfer windows during which the Turkish club cannot sign players.

As reported, the dispute centres on a payment that should have been made on 30 April 2026: the overdue amount was €3m. In a statement, Fenerbahçe said the sanction is temporary and linked to the transfer fee instalment for En-Nesyri, who joined its squad in the 2024-25 season.

The club also stated: “After taking over our duties, our board proceeded to pay the overdue instalment.” It added that, in the case opened by the other club at FIFA, it has requested payment of the next instalment and waited for the FIFA decision to complete the process.

Fenerbahçe then said it will make the payment on Monday as ordered by FIFA, and once paperwork with FIFA is completed, the transfer sanction will be lifted. The club also pointed to its 27 September 2026 general assembly as the moment it will share financial statements and obligations for the previous period.

Finally, Sevilla noted that En-Nesyri was later transferred to Middle East football for a lower fee (16m), so it is not entitled to any sell-on percentage due to the lack of a profit on that move.
