Timber starts for OM vs Monaco with Paixao ruled out

OM head to Ligue 1 action against Monaco with a straight swap in the starting XI. Igor Paixao hasn’t travelled due to a thigh injury, and Quinten Timber is set to replace him as a starter, as reported by L'Équipe.

Paixao misses the match

In their opening match against Strasbourg (4-0), Bruno Genesio used an XI that will be largely repeated. L'Équipe says that 10 of the 11 players who began that game are also in the starting line-up for Sunday night (20:45). The only change is Paixao’s absence.

Timber alters midfield structure

With Timber in, the Marseille side adds extra weight in midfield and their shape is expected to shift. L'Équipe also notes that the Dutch midfielder is on the radar of Crystal Palace and is among the players mentioned regarding a possible exit.

Timber will be joined in midfield by Pierre-Emile Højbjerg and Himad Abdelli. The rest of the XI includes Geoffrey Kondogbia, Angel Gomes and Amine Harit, who looks to get going again under Genesio. Up front, Amine Gouiri will play ahead, after scoring a brace versus Strasbourg.
