Udol confirmed with a heavy knock and is a doubt for Prague

Matthieu Udol raised concerns for RC Lens after going down during the first half of their match against Lorient (Saturday, 0-1). As L’Équipe reports, tests carried out on Sunday ruled out any knee injury, but confirmed a heavy contusion on Udol’s right thigh, after the visible bump left by the impact.

The fear was bigger given his history: according to L’Équipe, Udol has already suffered four ACL ruptures in that same knee (2016, 2017, 2018 and 2021). The worry eased a bit right after the game, when Florian Thauvin and Dino Toppmöller suggested it was just a knock, and Sunday’s medical checks have backed up that assessment—his ligaments weren’t affected.

Doubt for the Prague trip

With the injury looking bad but not ligament-related, Toppmöller’s staff won’t take risks for the trip to Prague. L’Équipe says Udol is therefore doubtful for the match on Thursday at 21:00.

There’s also another issue for midfield: Yassine Titraoui is out with a hamstring problem, and his absence is not in doubt.

Beyond the scare, Udol has been in a great run of form with Lens, and after the incident he reflected on how unlikely this felt a few months earlier, quoting L’Équipe: «Six mois en arrière, c'était inimaginable...».
