Yassine Benhattab joins Montpellier in official move to 2029
Yassine Benhattab leaves Nantes for Montpellier on a deal running until June 2029, per L’Équipe.
The Ligue 2 market has a new addition: Yassine Benhattab is leaving Nantes to sign for Montpellier. As reported by L’Équipe, the attacking midfielder has agreed to a contract through June 2029.
Deal gets the green light
The same outlet adds that both clubs had reached an understanding for a fee in the region of €1 million. Benhattab is 23 and comes from a period defined by movement and reduced involvement at Nantes.
From Nantes to a fresh start
According to L’Équipe, he spent the second half of last season on loan at Reims (L2), where he collected ten league appearances in L1. He had also been left out of Nantes’ senior group for some time before the switch.
Before his time in the pro ranks, he shone at Aubagne, being named Player of the Season 2024-25 in National. For Montpellier, this looks like a forward-minded signing designed to add creativity with a long-term plan, while Nantes moves on from a player who had been edging out of the squad.
