Aguerd rejects Real Sociedad move after passing medical

Another last-minute shock has rocked the winter transfer window. Nayef Aguerd has ultimately rejected his move to Real Sociedad, as reported by L'Équipe.

The deal appeared virtually done: both clubs had agreed on a loan of €2 million with a non-mandatory purchase option of €17 million. The 30-year-old defender had even passed his medical examination on Wednesday, which made the transfer seem like a done deal.

The twist is particularly striking because Aguerd is already well acquainted with Real Sociedad, having played for them during the 2024-2025 season. Despite that familiarity, he has chosen not to rejoin the Basque club, leaving the entire agreement in limbo.
