Anderson ready to fill Rodri's void at City

Manchester City secured Rodri's replacement by signing Elliott Anderson for 135 million, and the English midfielder insists he can play like the Spanish star.

With Rodri inching closer to Barcelona, Manchester City already has his replacement lined up. The English club brought Elliott Anderson this summer as their most expensive signing ever, paying 135 million euros to Newcastle, fully aware they would lose the Madrid midfielder.

Anderson isn't fazed by the weight of that figure. "What was paid for me will always be linked to me, but as long as I focus on myself and my performance, that's all I can do. It's football, isn't it?", the English international told journalists yesterday. When asked if he considers himself a player similar to Rodri, he was straightforward: "Yes, I think so. I can be. I can do various things in midfield and I'll see where they use me. I'll play in any position. Creating chances, going forward or playing any other role if they ask me to".

According to Mundo Deportivo, City has done their homework in anticipation of the Spaniard's departure, who days ago told Barcelona 'yes' as the clubs wait to finalize the deal.
