Angeliño returns to Deportivo: "It's a dream since I was a kid"
The left-back reunites with Deportivo after years abroad on a loan deal with an optional non-mandatory purchase clause.
Angeliño Tasende is now officially a Deportivo de la Coruña player. The left-back from Coristanco returns home after years abroad, where he played for clubs such as Manchester City, RB Leipzig, and Roma. According to *Sport*, the transfer has been completed as a loan with a non-mandatory purchase option, after more than a month of negotiations.
The Coristanco native did not hide his emotion in his presentation as a Blanc-and-Blue player. "I've always had this club in my mind. It's a dream I had since I was a kid and I've managed to fulfill it. I'm dying to start, to defend this badge, I'm very excited", he said. He also recalled the moment he learned the operation was possible: "When the process began, I was like a little boy. I couldn't stop thinking about it at home. When the opportunity came up, I grabbed it".
Building match fitness after months out
Angeliño arrives after a difficult 2024-25 season at Roma, where a health issue prevented him from playing much of the campaign. Although he wasn't sidelined, he couldn't complete a proper preseason and acknowledges his new teammates are "a step ahead". "I've been out for a while, but nothing that pitch time won't solve quickly", he said confidently.
He has already debuted at Riazor in the Teresa Herrera friendly, an experience he described as "incredible". "Apart from coming back to play after so long, playing at Riazor was just spectacular. Really eager for more moments like this", he expressed. The left-back hopes to earn his place through performances and highlights the role of Miguel Loureiro, a former teammate from Luis Calvo's football academy, in his first days: "An incredible help during changes that are always difficult".
