Araujo joins Liverpool on season-long loan from Barcelona

Liverpool have completed the signing of centre-back Ronald Araujo from Barcelona on a season-long loan, according to Sky Sports. The deal sees the 27-year-old Uruguayan international move to Anfield following contract renewal with Barcelona through 2031.

The move comes as Liverpool face an injury crisis at the back. Ibrahima Konaté has departed for Real Madrid, while young academy graduate Jeremy Jacquet, aged 21, continues his recovery from shoulder surgery and lacks pre-season minutes. Joe Gomez is also sidelined with a muscle injury, leaving Virgil van Dijk as the Reds' only fully fit senior centre-back.

Araujo, a Uruguayan international, joined Barcelona B in 2018 before earning promotion to the first team in 2019. The experienced defender has made over 200 appearances for the Catalan club, bringing valuable depth and stability to Liverpool's weakened backline.
