Arsenal hold talks with Leverkusen over Quansah deal

Arsenal are in talks with Bayer Leverkusen over a move for Jarell Quansah, Sky Sports reports. The England defender has become a target for Mikel Arteta, who is keen to strengthen his defence with both Jurrien Timber and William Saliba sidelined through injury.

The 23-year-old left his boyhood club Liverpool last summer in a £35m transfer to join Leverkusen. Since his move to Germany, Quansah has made 44 appearances and established himself as a key player, catching Arsenal's attention. His versatility—capable of playing centre-back or right-back—makes him an attractive prospect for the Gunners.

Leverkusen remain reluctant to sell. The German side is pleased with how the defender has settled after investing £30m in his signing, and Quansah has four years remaining on his contract. Arsenal would need to pay considerably more than Leverkusen's initial outlay to prise him away. Additionally, Liverpool retain a buy-back clause in the original deal.
