Arsenal reignite pursuit of Aston Villa's Konsa

The Gunners reopen their interest in the English centre-back after a summer move fell through over valuation disputes.

Arsenal have reopened their pursuit of Ezri Konsa, Aston Villa's centre-back, according to BBC Sport. The 28-year-old defender remains on holiday following the World Cup and will miss Wednesday's Super Cup clash against PSG.

The Gunners attempted to sign Konsa in summer, but the deal stalled due to a significant valuation gap: Arsenal offered around £30m while Villa valued him at £60m. The defender played 48 games across all competitions last season and was instrumental in Villa's Europa League triumph.

With Bruno Guimarães now at Newcastle, Arsenal are accelerating their defensive reinforcements and willing to improve their initial bid. Villa, however, remain firm on their valuation. Separately, the Gunners have also held exploratory talks with Tottenham regarding captain Cristian Romero, though Spurs have no intention of selling to their bitter north London rivals.
