Aston Villa complete Wan-Bissaka signing from West Ham

The right-back joins Emery's side on loan with an obligation to buy at the end of the season.

The deal is done. Aston Villa have completed the signing of right-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka from West Ham, confirming BBC Sport's report. As we reported yesterday, the structure is an initial loan with a mandatory purchase obligation at the end of the campaign.

The DR Congo defender is now traveling to the Midlands for his medical tests. West Ham had demanded around £25 million for his departure, a fee Villa has resolved through this loan-to-buy structure. Wan-Bissaka, 28 years old, had missed West Ham's first two Championship matches while negotiations took place.

An experienced fullback for Emery's project

The fullback arrives at an Aston Villa squad that will combine the Premier League with Champions League football after finishing fourth and winning the Europa League last season under Unai Emery's management. The club has had a busy summer in the transfer market, selling Morgan Rogers to Chelsea for £117 million but maintaining a net spend of roughly £110 million after outgoings. Defensively, they've already added young prospect Modou Keba Cisse, while on the attacking front they have Alejandro Garnacho from Chelsea on loan with an obligation to buy.
