Athekame joins Lyon on loan from Milan

Lyon have secured the signing of right-back Zachary Athekame on loan from AC Milan, as confirmed by L'Équipe. The French club needed reinforcements in that position following inconsistent displays from Ainsley Maitland-Niles and the youth of Steve Kango (19 years old).

The 21-year-old Swiss defender arrives on a loan without purchase option. Athekame, contracted to the Italians until 2030, made 27 Serie A appearances last season (2 goals, 2 assists), mostly coming off the bench. The deal closes after several days of negotiations between both clubs.
