Racing demands 16 million for the 19-year-old fullback, though they are open to negotiations involving loan players.
Jorge Salinas emerged as one of the standout players in Racing's campaign in the Segunda División, and his impressive season at just 19 years old has caught the attention of major Spanish clubs. Atlético Madrid is now in pole position to sign the left-back, but they will have to meet a substantial fee.
According to Mundo Deportivo, the Rojiblancos have set their asking price at 16 million euros, matching his release clause. Racing's sporting director Chema Aragón confirmed this and was forthright: "If you're asking if the price for Salinas is going to come down, Racing's interest is in keeping Salinas until September 2nd," referring to the close of the transfer window.
While Santander remain steadfast on the 16 million figure, they are open to negotiations with Atlético to avoid the clause being triggered, with potential loan players such as Arnau Ortiz or Obed Vargas possibly included. Aragón also left the door open to a contract improvement for Salinas that would further increase his release clause—something Atlético will need to act quickly on if they want to secure the deal.
