Atlético and Aston Villa reach Ruggeri transfer deal

Atlético Madrid and Aston Villa have reached an agreement for the transfer of left-back Matteo Ruggeri, as reported by Marca. The deal is worth €18 million plus €6 million in add-ons for the 24-year-old Italian, who joined the Rojiblancos a year ago from Atalanta for €17 million.

Now the player and the English club need to reach a personal agreement on his wages for the move to be completed. Ruggeri will not be included in Atlético's squad for their tour of South Korea, with the squad list to be announced today.

This sale is part of Atlético's clear-out strategy to raise funds for the Cuti Romero signing. Following the imminent departure of Nahuel Molina to Roma, Ruggeri will be the next to leave the Wanda Metropolitano.
