Barcelona officially announces the arrival of youth midfielder Arnau Casas (16), from Cornellà, after weeks of training with the club.
Barcelona has made official the signing of Arnau Casas, a 16-year-old midfielder arriving from Cornellà. According to Mundo Deportivo, this formalizes a deal that has been essentially done for some time: the young player already featured in friendly tournaments with the Catalan side in the final months of last season and has been training with the B juvenil squad for days.
Casas' arrival is part of an active period for Barcelona's youth football directorate, headed by José Ramon Alexanco, which has announced several moves in lower categories recently. Before the Cornellà midfielder came Belgian-Moroccan Mahdi El Maimouni (17) from Sporting Charleroi and winger Erik Domínguez (16), also from Cornellà.
Alongside Casas' signing, Barcelona has completed several youth renewals: among others, forwards Ruslan Mba, Artem Rybak and Noah Garcia; midfielders Hugo Garcés, Gorka Buil, Samu Borniquel, Óscar Medina, Ignasi Bassas and Unai Balmon; fullbacks Guiu Xuclà and Ahmed Abarkane; centre-backs Pere Villacorta, Roc Martínez and Luca Pérez; and goalkeepers Pablo Peña and Elliot Daussy.
