Barcelona cancels friendly in Tangier due to migration crisis

Barcelona has decided not to travel to Tangier to play the friendly match against IR Tangier planned for next August 15. According to MARCA, the Blaugrana have cancelled the encounter due to the migration crisis affecting the African country, with over 50,000 people being repatriated.

The club made an official statement: "Given the current context of uncertainty, FC Barcelona considers that at this moment the circumstances are not appropriate for holding that match".

This cancellation leaves Barcelona with three more friendlies ahead before the league season starts. Flick's side have already played matches against CE Europa and Birmingham, and still have upcoming fixtures against Nottingham Forest, Udinese and the Joan Gamper Trophy final against Al Ahly, before facing Elche in the opening league game.
