Bayern edges Aston Villa in friendly five days before European Super Cup

With the European Super Cup against PSG just five days away, Aston Villa fell short against Bayern Munich in a friendly in Hong Kong. The Bavarians dominated and won 2-1, according to L'Équipe.

The English side trailed at half-time after Kim Min-jae headed in from a free-kick in the 37th minute. But Bayern stepped up in the second half. Luis Díaz came off the bench to change the game, scoring a curling right-footed effort in the 73rd minute to make it 2-0.

Aston Villa's comeback came too late: Joao Gomes pulled one back in the 83rd minute, and they nearly equalized through a Tammy Abraham header that Manuel Neuer saved on the line. The defeat leaves Unai Emery's side with work to do before facing PSG on Tuesday.
