Bellerín faces injury doubt ahead of Betis league debut

The full-back suffered an ankle injury in the friendly against Inter and is uncertain for the opening match against Real Sociedad.

Héctor Bellerín returns from the pre-season with a concern. The Real Betis left-back suffered a heavy challenge on his right ankle in just the first minute of the friendly against Inter Milan in Bari (0-1), according to Mundo Deportivo. Although he tried to continue playing, he requested to be substituted after ten minutes as the discomfort persisted. Ángel Ortiz came on as his replacement.

Uncertainty for opening weekend

Bellerín is now a doubt for Betis's league opener against Real Sociedad next Friday at La Cartuja (21:00). The club's medical staff are hopeful he can make it in time, but everything will depend on how the injury develops over the coming days. The squad rested on Sunday and will train behind closed doors on Monday before opening the gates on Tuesday for final preparations.

Beyond Bellerín, Betis are also hoping to have Ez Abde and Lo Celso available from the start, both of whom are already training with the group but have yet to feature in any pre-season friendlies.
