Besiktas passes on Salah, targets Vlahovic instead

Besiktas has made a sudden shift in its transfer strategy. According to Mundo Deportivo, Mohamed Salah ultimately joined Trabzonspor rather than the Istanbul club, contrary to earlier speculation.

Besiktas president Serdal Adali clarified the situation: «We didn't want this transfer. We didn't sign this player. It's been said we let the deal slip away, but it was us who stepped back from the negotiating table». With Salah off the table, the Turkish side has set its sights on another heavyweight target: Dusan Vlahovic.

The 26-year-old Serbian striker became a free agent after declining to renew with Juventus following four seasons, during which he scored 68 goals in 168 matches. Adali confirmed the interest: «We are interested in Vlahović; we are working on it and we are in conversations with him». Italian manager Vincenzo Italiano is leading this offensive push.
