Boyé in serious doubt for Alavés' Getafe debut

The Argentine striker is unable to train with the group due to an adductor problem and is unlikely to make the opening match.

Lucas Boyé is in serious doubt for Alavés' league opener on Saturday against Getafe. According to MARCA, the Argentine forward continues to miss group training following an adductor injury sustained in a pre-season friendly. With just over two days until kick-off, it seems unlikely he will be fit for the first matchday.

Quique Sánchez Flores will wait for the striker but won't take unnecessary risks. Unlike last season, when Boyé dealt with multiple fitness problems and eventually played injured during the crucial final stretch, the coach is taking no chances now: the Argentine will only feature if he is in perfect condition.

His absence would force Quique to find a new partner for Toni Martínez in attack. Options include Mañas and Mariano, while the coach could also deploy Miguel Rodríguez as a second striker, though his natural position is right wing. The Madrid-born tactician is expected to maintain last season's 5-3-2 formation.
