Brest signs Norwegian goalkeeper Egil Selvik on loan with mandatory buy option

Stade Brestois has officially confirmed the signing of goalkeeper Egil Selvik from Watford in the English second division. According to L'Équipe, the Norwegian international, 29 years old with 8 caps for his country, joins the Breton club on a loan deal with a mandatory purchase option, though the financial terms have not been disclosed.

Selvik is Brest's third signing announced in two days. The goalkeeper featured at the last World Cup as backup to Orjan Nyland and played in Norway's match against France, conceding four goals in a 1-4 defeat. Standing 1.93 metres tall, the Scandinavian shot-stopper arrives as understudy to Grégoire Coudert following the end of Radoslaw Majecki's loan spell.

Before joining Watford in January 2025, Selvik had gained experience at FK Haugesund (120 appearances) and Udinese. With the English side, he made 57 appearances and kept 13 clean sheets.
