Brighton have secured Canadian striker Promise David on a season-long loan from Royale Union Saint-Gilloise with a mandatory purchase clause valued at £22 million, according to BBC Sport.
David, 25 years old, arrives at his peak. The striker has made 82 appearances for the Belgian side since joining in 2024, scoring 41 goals and providing 9 assists. This season proved his pivotal role in Royale's rise to the top flight, netting 24 goals as they claimed their first league title in 90 years.
A proven goalscorer
The Canadian brings international pedigree: he featured in Canada's World Cup campaign in Qatar, appearing in 4 of 5 matches as a substitute and even scoring in their 2-1 group-stage defeat to Switzerland. "Promise is someone we have been watching for some time," explained Mike Cave, Brighton's sporting director. "He is an out-and-out striker with outstanding physical attributes and a proven track record of scoring goals. His experience at international level and in European competition will hopefully prove valuable this season."
David joins Brighton at a crucial juncture, with the Seagulls facing Tromso in the Europa Conference League play-offs on Thursday before launching their Premier League campaign away at Aston Villa on Sunday.
