Caldentey embraces 'cool' pressure as Arsenal eye Treble

Spanish midfielder Mariona Caldentey backs Arsenal's ambitions to win the league, cup and Champions League this season after seven new signings.

Mariona Caldentey is backing Arsenal's bold push for the Treble in the 2026-27 season, according to BBC Sport. The Spanish midfielder emphasized the need to «take the next step» after a disappointing campaign where the Gunners finished second in the league and were knocked out of the Champions League semi-finals by Lyon.

«We need to be ambitious, have no fear and believe in ourselves,» Caldentey said. «We are professional athletes at a big club and we have to deal with pressure. We accept it and I think it's a cool part of the job».

Manager Renee Slegers shares that ambition and has bolstered the squad with seven new players, including England's Georgia Stanway. Caldentey pinpointed inconsistency as last season's downfall: «We showed amazing moments and amazing games and others where we haven't been good enough. That happened too many times last year. It was painful».

In two seasons at Emirates, Caldentey has won WSL Player of the Season and finished second in the 2024-25 Ballon d'Or.
