Cancelo hints at Barcelona move with cryptic social media post

Joao Cancelo appears to be just days away from becoming a Barcelona player. The 32-year-old Portuguese full-back, still officially an Al-Hilal player, sent a clear signal through social media: a photo of himself from behind wearing a Barcelona shirt alongside an hourglass emoji, indicating his return to Camp Nou is merely a matter of time.

The deal is done

According to Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona sealed the agreement with the Saudi club weeks ago for €10 million, though recent reports from Saudi outlets mentioned figures reaching €15 million. The truth is that the accord between both clubs is complete.

The stumbling block lies in Saudi Arabia: Al-Hilal currently has 13 foreign players on their roster, but local regulations only allow ten per squad. This is why Cancelo was left out of the squad for his team's debut against Al-Faisaly this past Friday, with manager Simone Inzaghi explaining that "regarding his future and continuity, it is a matter for the board".

Cancelo arrived at the Saudi side on loan in the second half of last season, and after performing well, Barcelona decided to make his signing permanent. Now, with this social media hint, all that remains is for Al-Hilal to give their final approval.
