Manchester City are finalising the signing of 18-year-old midfielder Ayyoub Bouaddi from Lille, clearing the way for Rodri's move to Barcelona.
Manchester City are closing in on the signing of midfielder Ayyoub Bouaddi from Lille, a move that opens the door for Rodri to join Barcelona. According to The Guardian, the 18-year-old has already agreed personal terms with City, though the club are still finalising details with the French side, who value the Moroccan talent at around €100 million (£85m).
City's new manager Enzo Maresca plans to integrate Bouaddi into the first team immediately for the upcoming season. The young midfielder would join Elliot Anderson, who arrived from Nottingham Forest for £116 million, in a refreshed midfield that has lost the experience of Bernardo Silva.
Meanwhile, Barcelona are confident of landing Rodri but will need to improve on their initial €45 million offer, which was rejected last week. The sale of Ferran Torres to Paris Saint-Germain would finance the operation. City have essentially accepted the departure of the 30-year-old, who has one year remaining on his contract.
