Corberán demands a quality centre-back ahead of Tárrega and De Haas

Valencia's coach is pushing for a reliable defender to leapfrog Tárrega and De Haas in the pecking order, with the backline under pressure from injuries.

Valencia faces the final weeks of the transfer window with several outstanding tasks, but one stands out on Corberán's agenda: signing a centre-back of real quality. According to MARCA, the manager is demanding a defender who would line up ahead of Tárrega and Justin de Haas, currently viewed as the team's first-choice pairing.

The defensive line is one of the coach's biggest concerns. He sees it as weakened not just tactically but also by absences—with Copete sidelined—that have stripped depth from the squad. The club has been quiet for over 40 days in the market since bringing in Dieng, De Haas, and Sato, and though three weeks remain before the deadline closes, time is running short.

Valencia still needs to wrap up a right-back (with Arnau Martínez leading the way), a goalkeeper, one or two wingers, and a striker. Their match against Betis has been pushed back, giving a little breathing room, but the season is just around the corner.
