Cumic signs for Partizan Belgrade ahead of Conference League clash with Getafe
Partizan Belgrade, with ex-Zaragoza director Radosav Petrovic in charge, signs Serbian winger Nikola Cumic. Tomorrow they face Getafe, where Francho Serrano recently joined.
A Serbian market twist sets up an unexpected Conference League matchup. According to Sport, Nikola Cumic has signed with Partizan Belgrade on a two-year deal after a brief spell at Real Zaragoza, where he played just eight games in the second half of last season.
Cumic seeks recovery at home
The 27-year-old winger returns to Serbia's top flight hoping to rediscover his best form. In his previous stints there, Cumic was a reliable goalscorer: 16 goals with Radnicki Nis in 2019/20 and 14 goals plus five assists with FK Vojvodina in 2022/23. His moves abroad (Russia and Spain) failed to deliver the same finishing touch.
The Zaragoza touch in Belgrade
Behind this move is Radosav Petrovic, a former Real Zaragoza midfielder who played there between 2021 and 2023 and now serves as sporting director at Partizan. The Serbian executive oversaw squad completion after a summer of lucrative sales.
Tomorrow's encounter
Cumic and Francho Serrano —who left Real Zaragoza to join Getafe— will face off tomorrow at the Coliseum Alfonso Pérez at 21.00 in the Conference League first round. The fixture marks the Aragonese player's European debut in the top flight, a crucial test for both teams in a tie where the first-leg result will carry significant weight.
