📷 L'ÉquipeDjaoui Cissé on Strasbourg's radar after losing Rennes prominence
The 22-year-old French midfielder has caught Strasbourg's attention after falling down the pecking order at Rennes.
Djaoui Cissé has emerged as a target for Strasbourg following a dip in playing time at Rennes. According to L'Équipe, the 22-year-old French midfielder, academy-trained at Rennes with a contract running until 2030, has attracted interest from the Alsatian club.
The player was one of the breakout stars of the second half of the 2024-2025 season and featured in the recent UEFA European Under-21 Championship. Yet his prominence has waned: he played 982 minutes in Ligue 1 last season compared to 1,130 the year before, and has been absent from recent pre-season friendlies.
Rennes trimming the squad
Cissé is among the Rennes players deemed surplus to requirements this summer, alongside Welsh midfielder Jordan James and centre-back Lilian Brassier. Strasbourg, meanwhile, is actively recruiting on the market.
As L'Équipe reports, the two clubs have yet to open formal talks about a deal, suggesting this remains a monitoring situation rather than active negotiations.
