The 21-year-old centre-back has caught the attention of English clubs following a stellar Serie A campaign.
Tiago Gabriel has become one of the standout names in the transfer market following his impressive performances in Serie A. The 21-year-old Franco-Portuguese centre-back has caught the eye of two Premier League sides that have already made enquiries about his situation, according to specialist Nicolò Schira.
Arriving at Lecce in January 2025 from Portuguese football, where he played for Sporting, Vitória de Setúbal and Estrela da Amadora, Gabriel has made more than a positive impact. Over the past season he appeared in 37 matches, starting in 36 of them, establishing himself as an almost undisputed piece in defence.
An attractive profile on the market
Standing 1.96 metres tall, Gabriel is an imposing defender in one-on-one situations and particularly dominant in the air, but he also possesses good quality on the ball. His physical presence has placed him among Serie A's best centre-backs in tackles won, and his name has even been linked with Barcelona in the past.
A Portugal Under-21 international with a contract until June 2027, Gabriel is valued at between €25 and €30 million. Lecce are aware they have a marketable asset and are not willing to make things easy. It remains to be seen whether the English suitors will make a firm move in this final stretch of the transfer window.
