The young Paris midfielder has started twice in friendlies and provided an assist against Manchester United, though he still needs to build physical strength.
Dro Fernández continues his development at Paris Saint-Germain under Luis Enrique's guidance. The 18-year-old midfielder, signed from FC Barcelona for €8 million in January, has started twice in preseason matches and impressed on Saturday against Manchester United (1-1) in Gothenburg, where he provided a quality assist.
Although his first goal came on 21 March in his sixth Ligue 1 appearance against Nice (4-0), Fernández still needs to gain physical consistency. The coach is aware of his youth: "We have to take it step by step, he's in his development period," Luis Enrique acknowledged in February. On Saturday he was substituted in the 61st minute when more experienced players like Vitinha and João Neves entered.
The player himself was optimistic after the match: "I felt good, with more confidence, and I hope to continue and have a good season." His teammates also value his work: "The young players have performed well, but there's a big gap with the U-19s," said Rafael Pol, Luis Enrique's assistant, according to L'Équipe. Fernández has time to close that gap.
