Athletic test themselves in Marseille ahead of season start

Athletic travel to Marseille this Sunday to face OM in the first of two preseason matches, according to MARCA. Manager Terzic has named a 25-player squad for the French fixture, including Iñaki Williams, Sancet, Guruzeta and other first-team regulars.

The squad selection highlights the current state of the team: Agirrezabala remains absent after being «on the verge of signing for Racing», while Gorosabel and Vivian are also left out after starting the season injured. The defender is another player set to leave the club this summer.

This test match comes one week before the Liga season kicks off, with Athletic facing Sevilla, Barcelona and Celta in their opening fixtures. The squad returns to training on Monday, when world champions Simón, Laporte and Nico are expected to join up. The tour continues on Friday in Bergamo against Atalanta.
