Atletico Madrid pushes to complete transfers before Malaga clash
The Madrid side works on multiple market operations while negotiating the departures of Molina and Ruggeri.
Atletico Madrid faces an intense transfer window in these final weeks of August with several fronts open. According to Sport, the Rojiblanco's sporting direction is working on completing different operations both incoming and outgoing before the market closes on September 1st, by which time the team will have already played their opening Liga fixture against Malaga (August 19th).
One of the most pressing matters remains the future of Julian Alvarez. Barcelona maintains its interest in the Argentine striker, and according to Sport, Deco recently travelled to Madrid to meet with the player and his representatives. Although Atletico has not given up on keeping their star, the operation is described as "complex".
On the departures front, the situation is moving forward. Nahuel Molina continues to attract Roma's attention, while Matteo Ruggeri has also received offers being evaluated by Atletico. In fact, the Italian fullback did not even travel to Korea with the squad to finalize his potential exit.
These movements come after Atletico have already brought in Grimaldo, Kang-in Lee and Hjulmand, among others. Several Rojiblanco players took part in the Club World Cup final and will rejoin training shortly.
