Atlético Madrid seals €101m capital increase with Apollo

Atlético Madrid formalised a new capital increase with Apollo last Monday for €101 million, as stipulated in the contract. Of this amount, 60% will go to the new City of Sport and 40% will be allocated to sporting reinforcements.

This injection, combined with income from the departures of Almada to River Plate, Molina to Roma and Ruggeri to Aston Villa, will allow the club to undertake the second phase of its squad overhaul. The team is looking to sign a centre-back like Cuti Romero, a defender such as Jorge Salinas, a striker and Nico González. In the first phase, Álex Grimaldo, Morten Hjulmand and Kang-in Lee already arrived.

Furthermore, according to Atlético Play, the club is finalising two major sponsorship deals — one with a South Korean company and another with a European firm — that will bring in around €20 million each. This would add another €40 million to the coffers in the coming weeks, consolidating a financially favourable moment for the project.
