Atletico registers Lee and Ortiz, but only pays for one

Atletico Madrid registers Kang-in Lee and academy product Arnau Ortiz in LaLiga, though federation fees apply only to one.

Atletico Madrid has registered both Kang-in Lee and Arnau Ortiz in LaLiga this Tuesday, joining previously registered signings Alejandro Grimaldo and Morten Hjulmand, according to Mundo Deportivo.

While both players completed their registrations simultaneously, the Madrid club will only pay federation fees for one: Arnau Ortiz, who steps up from the academy's second team in Primera Federación to the senior squad. Lee avoids this charge because he has already been registered in Spain previously with Valencia and Mallorca.

The cost of regularisation

Atletico must pay the RFEF €57,809.50 for Ortiz's registration, plus €1,268.50 in licensing fees. Combined with the paperwork for Cristian Romero—who also generates fees as his first LaLiga registration—and Hjulmand, the rojiblanco side will spend a total of €173,427 in federation fees across this registration round.
